Anyone with a job can likely relate to Horrible Bosses in some manner. Anyone who has, or has had, a job or a coworker that they loathed, will likely find the film’s zany, brazen plot a little too relatable. And while the general idea of the film, with its crudely overdone gags, insults and slurs may seem to be another carbon copy of many, many films, the working pieces of this movie combine to create a surprisingly enjoyable summer popcorn flick.
Featuring a stellar list of superbly-cast actors, the film, directed by Seth Gordon, stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis, as a group of straight-laced, everyday guys who each hate their respective bosses. Following some superbly horrid days at work, the men, after one too many beers, begin to joke about killing their bosses. All laughs aside, the idea quickly begins to take form, and the group finds themselves traveling down a dangerous path, drifting far from reality.
